BLACK DIAL
The dial is the characteristic 'face' of a Rolex watch and the most decisive for its identity and legibility. With its characteristic 18 kt gold hour markers to prevent dullness, each Rolex dial is largely designed and manufactured by hand to ensure perfection.
THE OYSTER BAND
The Oyster band is a perfect balance of shape, function, aesthetics and technology, and designed to be both robust and comfortable. It is equipped with an Oysterlock closure to prevent accidental opening, and with an ingenious Glidelock system to fine-tune the strap without tools, so that it can be worn comfortably with a diving suit.
3135 MOVEMENT
This model is equipped with caliber 3135, a self-winding mechanical timepiece that has been fully developed and produced by Rolex. Like all Rolex Perpetual timepieces, caliber 3135 is a certified Swiss chronometer. This is an indication reserved for extremely accurate watches that have passed the tests of the COSC (the Swiss official chronometer testing institute). It is equipped with a Parachrom coil spring, which is more resistant to shocks and temperature differences. The construction, like all the timepieces in the Oyster collection, makes it exceptionally reliable.
UNIDIRECTIONAL ROTATING BEZEL
The rotating bezel of the Submariner is an important functionality of the watch. The engraved 60-minute distribution ensures that a diver can time the dive time and decompression stops accurately and safely. The Cerachrom bezel ring, which is manufactured by Rolex from hard, corrosion-resistant ceramics, is virtually scratch-resistant. A luminous capsule on the zero mark guarantees legibility, no matter how dark it is. The serrated edge of the bezel has been carefully designed for an excellent grip under water even with gloves on.
